Page 27 of 68 May 2017 / st 27 M ore than 1,300 military personnel, industry leaders, researchers and academics will attend Undersea Defence Technology (UDT), which annually pro- vides a world-class platform to discuss technology developments, understand the latest requirements and present innovative solutions that can be exploited in the underwater domain. UDT 2017 will take place May 30 to June 1 in the MESSE BREMEN & ÖVB-Arena in Bremen, Germany. With more than 1,200 years of history, Bremen is a city straddling the Weser River in northwest Germany. It's known for its role in maritime trade, represented by Hanse- atic buildings on the Market Square. Peter Hauschildt will be the conference committee chair for UDT 2017. thyssenkrupp is the platinum partner, Jane's by IHS Markit is lead media partner and Shephard Media is the online media partner for the 2017 show. Conference Agenda "Optimizing the Constants by Maximizing the Variables" is the overall theme for UDT 2017. UDT is renowned for its responsiveness to significant developments in the subsea environment, not least in countering the evolving threat portfolio. This is reflected in the 2017 agenda, which en- compasses pushing the boundaries of science, technol- ogy and the skillful exploitation of new knowledge. Attendees will gain valuable expe- rience from UDT 2017. On each day there will be a panel and keynote by senior officers, which can be attended by all visitors. VAdm. Andreas Krause, inspector of the Germany Navy, will deliver the keynote address. Krause's address will be fol- lowed by panels of international military and industry ex- perts. The second day of UDT will open with a focus on the conference theme. A panel drawn from senior military and industry speakers will present their pro- grams, followed by a Q&A. Plenary Sessions International speakers will deliver talks along five conference tracks: operational drivers; au- tonomous and unmanned systems; sensors and processing; platform design; and weapons and payload systems. Session topics range from modern submarines to underwater warfare in the digital age. Leading exhibiting companies include: Airbus, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, Babcock In- ternational Group, DCNS, Kongsberg, Lock- heed Martin, Saab, Safran Electronics & De- fense and thyssenkrupp Marine Systems.
