this order, Fugro specifed the Kongsberg EM 2040 multibeam echosounder, EdgeTech (West Wareham, Massachusetts) side scan sonar and sub-bottom profler, forward-looking sonar, turbidity sensor, acoustic Doppler current profler, CTD sensor and a camera system with LED lighting. The new HUGIN 1000 AUV is rated to 3,000 meters and includes lithium-polymer batteries, with 48 kilowatt-hours of energy providing more than 70 hours of survey time with the payload sensors collecting data simultaneously. W��rtsil�� Establishes Joint Venture in China W��rtsil�� Corp. (Helsinki, Finland) and Yuchai MarinePower Co. Ltd. (Zhuhai, China) have signed an agreement to establish a 50/50 joint venture for manufacturing mediumspeed marine engines in Zhuhai. The joint venture will serve the Chinese shipbuilding industry, with a focus on the assembly and testing of W��rtsil�� 20, 26 and 32 engines. Operations are planned to start in 2014. The value of W��rtsil�����s investment in the joint venture is approximately ���17 million. It represents a further step in W��rtsil�����s focus on the offshore and special segments in China, the world���s largest shipbuilding country. EMP to Use KEI Data Logger for Eco Projects Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. (Fukuoka, Japan), or EMP, will use KEI System Co. Ltd.���s (Osaka, Japan) 3240 Data Logger to verify fuel savings and measure the performance of its Aquarius MRE System, a wind and solar power solution for sustainable shipping. The KEI 3240 will provide a ship���s crew with real-time information on how much fuel consumption is being reduced through the use of Aquarius. EMP will also work with KEI to develop a power-rating methodology for EMP���s EnergySail and use the KEI 3240 to fne tune the performance of the EnergySail during sea trials, which will commence in 2013. EMP will investigate how the KEI 3240 could be used in its other projects, such as the Tonbo solar-electric hybrid ferry and Medaka ecocommuter ferry. FairfeldNodal Expands in Russia FairfeldNodal (Sugar Land, Texas) has opened an offce in Moscow, Russia, to provide seismic systems and technical support capabilities for customers in the oil-producing region. Denis Tomashin manages the new offce. CEO Buys $10 Million Paragon Shipping Shares Paragon Shipping Inc. (Voula, Greece) entered in December an agreement to sell 4,901,961 newly issued shares of the company���s common stock to an entity affliated with Michael Bodouroglou, Paragon���s chairman and CEO, for a total consideration of $10 million. Bodouroglou said he bought the shares ���to remove any uncertainty in satisfying a key condition precedent stipulated under our amended loan agreements.��� The transaction ensures that Paragon continues to meet New York Stock Exchange listing requirements, he said.
