www.sea-technology.com July 2018 | ST 31 UMAR|WSR Cooperates to Expand Operations The UMAR|WSR Group is expanding its operations into Singapore, the Middle East and Russia following the signing of cooperation agreements with two of its main principals, Lagersmit of the Netherlands and the Detyens Shipyard in Charleston in the U.S. Under the agreement, UMAR|WSR will represent the interests of Lagersmit in Dubai, Oman and Qatar and the interests of Detyens in Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Russia. It al- ready acts for both companies in Cyprus and Greece. DNV GL Releases Cybersecurity Notation Classification society DNV GL announced the release of its first class notations to help shipowners and opera- tors protect their assets from cybersecurity incidents. The new class notations, "cyber secure," help owners and op- erators protect vital systems from cybersecurity threats. They will be published on the DNV GL rules page in July 2018. Trade Mission to France Led By Marine Renewables Canadian Representatives of Canada's marine renewable energy industry traveled to Cherbourg, France, to showcase ex- pertise and capabilities to an international audience in a trade mission that included 30 delegates to the seventh International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE). The conference is a significant event for the emerging glob- al marine renewable energy industry aimed at building partnerships and sharing recent experiences from project and technology development. DP World Joins World Ocean Council DP World has become the first company in its sector to join the World Ocean Council (WOC). DP World op- erates multiple related businesses, including marine and inland terminals, maritime services, logistics and ancil- lary services to technology-driven trade solutions. The announcement was made on World Oceans Day in June. New Corrosion Consortia Provides Data for Better Research in Corrosion Solutions NACE International has formed the NACE Corrosion Consortia, a service facilitating corrosion mitigation research for companies, government bodies, research organizations and universities. The NACE Corrosion Consortia is engaging multiple organizations to perform research in key industries including maritime, offshore (wind energy), fish farming, additive manufacturing, con- struction and architecture. Forum Energy to Distribute Electric ROVs In Netherlands and Belgium Forum Energy Technologies expanded its operations in Europe by appointing a new distributor for subsea vehicles across the Netherlands and Belgium. Seascape Subsea Technology BV will represent Forum Energy Tech- nologies for the sale of the company's ROVs in the two countries, including its recently launched electric ROV, the XLe Spirit.
