Niels Erik Hedeager, the current CEO, will become the chairman of the board of directors. Omann has a strong techni- cal and commercial background and has previously worked in various senior management po- sitions. Richard Dentzman has joined Klein Marine Systems Inc. as regional sales manager, contributing to Klein's mar- ket share expansion and new product introduction. He will be instrumental in strengthening cooperation with cus- tomers in the U.S. Navy, NOAA, U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as other defense customers around the world. Dr. Bing Ouyang was officially awarded Researcher of the Year by FAU. Harbor Branch Executive Director Dr. Anton Post and Associate Executive Director Dr. Megan Davis traveled to Boca, Raton, Florida, to watch him accept his plaque. The 2017 AMSI Council Business Person of the Year has been awarded to OceanWise Managing Director Dr. Mike Osborne. The award recognizes the individual who has made a significant contribution to the business of marine science and technology. Valeport has appointed Phill Harvey to the new post of fi- nancial director. He will oversee all financial aspects of the business, beginning with a review of administration func- tions. LUX Assure, an oil and gas chemical monitoring firm, has appointed Paul Gavin as business development executive for OMMICA, which detects hydrate inhibitors in produced fluids. The position includes developing a business strategy for the technology and working with agents and distributors to develop new business. The U.S. operation of M² Subsea has announced the ap- pointment of a new general manager and senior vice presi- dent of commercial as the firm embarks on the next stage of its growth strategy. Based in Houston, Paddy Hardey will be responsible for implementing the firm's global commercial and contracting principals to ensure the strategic develop- ment and continued growth of the fledging subsea company. Maritime Authority of Jamaica Director General RAdm. Pe- ter Brady has been appointed Jamaica's special envoy to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Brady will lobby for Jamaica's candidature to Category C of the IMO Council. He has a wealth of experience to help in his newly appointed role, having been the chief technical delegate for Jamaica at the IMO for a number of years.
