Hendry, husband, father and grandfather, as well as a noted Florida business leader, died October 3 at the age of 80. A fourth-generation Floridian, Hendry started his career at Hendry Corp. as a teenager in 1952 as a deck- hand. He worked his way up through the ranks as a boat- man, foreman, mate and leverman. Knowing education was essential to the success of the family business, he earned a civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech, an M.B.A. from the University of Tampa, and also graduated from the Har- vard Business School's prestigious business owners program. Hart, Beduhn Join Teledyne CARIS After 10 years at the helm of Teledyne CARIS USA, Paul Cooper will be retiring. Cooper joined CARIS after an illustri- ous career with the U.S. Naval Oceanographic office. Fol- lowing his October retirement, Karen Hart will take on the responsibility of director of Teledyne CARIS's USA operations and will be spearheading the team to further develop the U.S. market. Also involved in the reorganization is Tami Beduhn, who takes over the NOAA account manager position. Trident Maritime Systems Acquires Callenberg Technology Group Trident Maritime Systems has completed the acquisition of Callenberg Technology Group from Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS. Callenberg designs, assembles, integrates and supports HVAC, electrical energy management and insula- tion systems for commercial and government vessels around the world. Trident is a leading independent provider of turn- key marine joiner, distributed, electromechanical, and pow- er, propulsion and control systems and solutions. Oceaneering Expands AUV Operations into West Africa Oceaneering International is expanding its presence for AUV survey services to the West African region. They are mo- bilizing a 3,000-m-rated AUV capable of performing deep- water geophysical hazard and pipeline inspection surveys. Oceaneering currently serves the U.S Gulf of Mexico with a fleet of commercial AUVs. Newton Labs Appoints C.A. Richards & Associates as Gulf Coast Representative Newton Labs has appointed C. A. Richards & Associ- ate Inc. as exclusive sales representative of Newton's Un- derwater Laser Scanner Line in Houston, Louisiana and Mississippi. Newton's underwater laser scanners capture submillimeter measurements beyond the capabilities of ultrasound. The Newton subsea laser scanners operate at depths up to 4,000 m and capture raw as-built data to within 0.005 in. ROVOP Expands Fleet to Help Operators ROVOP has expanded its fleet of ROVs for the U.S. re- gion. The company has taken delivery of the Seaeye Leopard ROV, a powerful vehicle in relation to its size. With 1/2 t forward thrust and its iCON intelligent control system, the 2,000-m-rated Leopard powers at a speed of 4 kt., while providing a stable work platform for handling work tasks in strong currents.
