www.sea-technology.com September 2016 / st 15 M ore than 24,000 members of the security and defense industry will showcase their prod- ucts and more at the 25th bian- nual EURONAVAL conference, being held October 17 to 21 in Paris, France. Every two years, state and private decision makers from around the world attend this conference to familiarize themselves with the latest technological innovations dedicated to na- val defense and maritime security. This is one of the year's most anticipated events, bringing together more than 92 official delegations from 70 countries, representing vari- ous organizations in the naval defense market. Highlights The growing awareness of the economic and geostrate- gic issues surrounding oceans over the last few years has led to a strong increase in the global demand for innova- tive naval defense and maritime security equipment, par- ticularly in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the Middle East. The key trends to be discussed at this conference include: the acquisition of coastal surveillance vessels, open-sea patrol vessels, intermediate-sized corvettes and frigates; developing a submarine fleet with acquisition projects in Australia, Sweden, Poland, Norway and Indo- nesia; the development of surface and submarine drones, aircraft and USVs; and new concepts related to stealth.
