DNV GL, Høvik, Norway, has signed a cooperation agreement that includes dual classification of ships. Priority co- operation areas include ensuring com- pliance of ships with the requirements of the Polar Code. It will also improve technical standards for the safety of gas-fueled ships. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Teledyne RESON, Slangerup, Den- mark, has been awarded contracts to supply a full ocean depth sub-bottom profiler system for newbuild survey vessels. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2016. Guangzhou Ma- rine Geological Survey and Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology. AeroVironment, Simi Valley, Califor- nia, and NOAA, Washington, D.C., have been contracted to provide the icebreaker Polar Star with an RQ020A Puma AE unmanned aircraft system and a flight crew for the annual "Oper- ation Deep Freeze." This U.S. Military operation helps resupply the National Science Foundation's McMurdo Sta- tion. U.S. Coast Guard. Sonardyne Inc., Houston, Texas, has been selected to provide acoustically aided inertial navigation technology for the Ultra-Light Intervention Vessel (ULIV), Brandon Bordelon. The dual Ranger 2 Pro DP-INS systems will be used to track ROVs during inspection, repair and maintenance activities. Bordelon Marine. Tritech International Ltd., Aberdeen, Scotland, has signed a contract to provide the Gemini 620pd multibeam profiling system for work-class ROVs. Gemini 620pd is a high-resolution multibeam echosounder with an an- gular resolution. Saipem. Saab Seaeye Ltd., Fareham, England, has agreed to provide two Leopards for touchdown and monitoring sup- port. The pioneering Leopard work ve- hicle will provide a stable work plat- form, particularly in stronger currents. Louis Dreyfus TravOcean. Eco Marine Power, Fukuoka, Japan, has signed an agreement in sales and support to pave the way to offer a wide range of products and services to the Canadian shipping and offshore sec- tor. It will also introduce the market to renewable energies based on battery technologies. Jastram Technologies. Willard Marine, Anaheim, California, recently delivered a SOLAS 670 res- cue boat to serve aboard the USACE Dredge McFarland in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The rigid-hull inflatable boat performs at speeds of up to 26.5 kt. and can accommodate nine pas- sengers. U.S. Army. Damen Shipyards Group, Gorinchem, Netherlands, is constructing a Trail- ing Suction Hopper Dredger 650 to maintain entry to the port of Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes sys- tem in Victoria, Australia, used by rec- reational fishing and supply vessels. It involves increasing the installed pro- pulsion power to cope with the strong currents characteristic of the harbor's entrance. Gippsland Ports. PC Maritime, Plymouth, England, has secured a contract to supply, install and commission dual Navmaster EC- DIS on 39 tankers. The installation has been completed at 15 different ports worldwide on 20 ships to date. Over- seas Shipholding Group. ABS, Shanghai, China, has signed a cooperation agreement on Trans-Arc- tic shipping development. As pioneers of Arctic transportation, the aim is to expand use of the Northeast passage for more regular trading, explore navi- gation in the Northwest passage and develop ice-classed vessel types ap- propriate for Trans-Arctic shipping. COSCO. Wärtsilä Corp., Helsinki, Finland, has signed a maintenance agreement that will create both short- and long- term savings by optimizing assets and improving predictability through extensive condition monitoring ser- vices and parts supply management.
