58 st / February 2016 www.sea-technology.com Statoil Service Agreements With Aker, OneSubsea Statoil Petroleum AS has signed mas- ter service agreements with Aker Solu- tions ASA and OneSubsea Processing AS. The agreements form the basis for potential new EPC contracts (engineer- ing, procurement and construction) for subsea equipment in the medium-term future. An EPC option agreement for subsea production system (SPS) has also been signed with OneSubsea, including framework agreements for subsea op- erations services and subsea add-ons. In today's oil price environment, sustained focus on costs and effciency will be the key to develop several cur- rently marginal prospects and discover- ies. The agreements will simplify col- laboration. Miko Creates Sea Chest Covers, Cofferdams Odfjell Drilling recruited Miko Ma- rine to design and manufacture a com- plete package of sea chest covers and cofferdams that use magnetic holding technology for increased effciency. The new closures have been designed specifcally for use during work on the semisubmersible drilling rig Deepsea Stavanger. Miko's naval architects designed a system that employs a primary seal that clamps over each of the four sea chest gratings and creates a watertight closure. There was also a requirement for two cushioned magnetic plates for closing off overboard lines for the echo- sounder and the speed log. Four powerful Miko MAM perma- nent magnets will hold each of the four cofferdams tight against the hull. With each magnet capable of holding up to 450 kg, it is possible to achieve an in- stant watertight seal for the cofferdams without the need for any other attach- ments or holding mechanisms being ftted to the hull. Each magnet is con- nected to the cofferdam via a special rubber link that introduces an element of fexibility that enables it to be ftted fush onto the hull while allowing the cofferdam to be positioned precisely before it is tightened into place. When the job is fnished, each magnet is sim- ply freed by having its release lever lift- ed by a diver or ROV so the cofferdam can be retrieved. Record 81-M Evac Chute System VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S has received type approval from Lloyd's Register for its new offshore evacuation chute system, certifed to operate at an unprecedented evacuation height of 81 m to sea level. The system's certifed evacuation capacity is 146 people in just 10 min., comfortably beating the threshold re- quired by maritime authorities, even from such an extreme height. With rig sizes increasing and evacu- ation heights exceeding what is possi- ble with enclosed davits and lifeboats, chute-based evacuation solutions have become increasingly important.
