Blue Ocean Monitoring Expands to UK, US Blue Ocean Monitoring Pty Ltd. recently announced that it has expanded its offces from Perth and Singapore and has now opened offces in the United Kingdom and U.S. due to customer demand. In addition, Blue Ocean will be basing its Slocum gliders and other platforms in each of the new regions and relocate other gliders from its global feet as local requirements dic- tate. Subsea UK to Support SMEs With Apprenticeships Subsea UK has recently launched a new support ser- vice to bring fresh, young talent into the subsea sector by making it easier for businesses to recruit apprentices. Research conducted by the industry body revealed the barriers for SMEs in settling up apprenticeships. Subsea UK will provide fnancial support and specifc help with making the process simpler so that small frms can beneft and develop the next generation of subsea workers. Remote Maritime Telemedicine Business Launches Partnership Maritime telemedicine business ClipperTelemed+ and global maritime charity Sailors' Society are jointly promot- ing health and well-being at sea through a series of events. The new partnership was unveiled at a reception alongside a ClipperTelemed+ yacht that competed in the Clipper Around the World race. ClipperTelemed+ provides remote primary and emergen- cy medical care to seafarers all over the world. Wellness at Sea from the Sailors' Society is a coaching program for off- cers and cadets aimed at improving seafarers' onboard health and well-being. VIKING Moves to Expand Australasian Activities Viking Life-Saving Equipment A/S recently announced it has acquired part of Australia-based Wiltrading Pty Ltd.'s maritime safety equipment activities. The move strengthens VIKING's offering in Australasia, adding four locations to the company's global network. Selected safety equipment and servicing activities previously managed by Wiltrading will be seamlessly integrated into VIKING. GMS Supports DSA Stance on Beaching GMS has come out in support of the Danish Ship Asso- ciation (DSA), which refuses to ban beaching outright. GMS supports DSA's position that ship-recycling choice should not be based just on geography. DSA recently visited shipyards in Alang, India, to see how some had upgraded their facilities to comply with the Hong Kong Convention on ship recycling. GMS urges the Norwegian Ship-owners Association to visit Alang shipyards too, so they can make their own minds up about beaching at specifc yards. ST
