DNV GL has been working with operators to help unlock the potential of their existing rotat- ing equipment. Rotating equipment can be attributed to 90 percent of production losses. Online condition monitoring coupled with reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) analysis can facilitate in understanding the causes of shortfalls. Proserv Announces Acquisition Of Nautronix Proserv Group LLC has acquired Nautronix, a subsea digi- tal acoustic communication products and positioning servic- es provider to the oil and gas industry. The transaction heightens Proserv's position as a leading player in the controls and communications market and pres- ents the company with an opportunity to expand its offering by providing fully integrated subsea controls, communica- tions, positioning and survey services. Lloyd's Register Foundation Awards £9 Million Grants in Nanotechnology The Lloyd's Register Foundation has awarded grants total- ing £9 million to three international consortia in the feld of nanotechnology. These grants support research and doctoral training that will support the Foundation's aims to advance engineering-related education and research and support work that enhances safety of life at sea, on land and in the air. The ultimate goal for the subsea work is to improve the effciency at which electricity is transmitted across the world. OSIL Vibrocorer for VLIZ U.K.-based OSIL has supplied the Flanders Marine Insti- tute (VLIZ) with a high-powered Vibrocorer system. The 3m system was supplied with its own container for storage, with OSIL staff providing training on its assembly and use in Oos- tende on board RV Simon Stevin. The OSIL Vibrocorer has been designed as an easy to use, easy to transport modular system that minimizes dockside as- sembly for quicker mobilization. Transas Expands Global ECDIS Training Network in China The New Alliance Marine Training Center has joined the Transas Global ECDIS Training Network, with shipping com- panies now beneftting from high-quality ECDIS training from the frst Transas GET-Net partner in China. The main objectives are to provide training services for ship owners and operators and help Chinese seafarers im- prove their competence to meet the requirements of the glob- al maritime market. First Damen Twin Axe Workboat In the Middle East Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 workboat named AOS Swift for the Atlantic Maritime Group. This is the frst Damen Twin Axe vessel to be used in the Middle East for safe passenger and crew transfer, as well as for the transport of industrial persons, The Switch Opens New Headquarters in Helsinki The Switch, supplier of megawatt-class electrical drives for wind energy, marine and industrial applications, recently an- nounced the offcial opening of its new global headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. The new location will maintain the company's ability to effectively and effciently meet the needs of its international stakeholders. N-Sea Successfully Completes Maersk IMR WorkScope Subsea IMR provider N-Sea Offshore Ltd. has success- fully completed a fully integrated and managed service for the Maersk Oil UK's 2015 Subsea Inspection Program. The work scope involved four feld locations in the North Sea and utilized N-Sea's IMR and subsea capabilities for the duration of 135 days. The Siem N-Sea was utilized to combine ROV inspection services with IMR diving works. The vessel is part of N-Sea's feet of dive, multisupport and construction vessels designed to deliver a range of subsea services for offshore assets, plat- forms, FPSOs and renewables operations. Radio Holland Extends VSAT Coverage Above Northern Europe Radio Holland is the frst provider that expanded its glob- al Ku-band VSAT network with additional coverage above Northern Europe and Russia. Recently, the Yamal 402 North- ern Beam has been added to the network. The VSAT network provides reliable communication con- nections for crew, captain and other users on board. Ship Effciency Retroft Grant Launched by Carbon War Room Carbon War Room (CWR) issued a request for proposals to ship owners or charterers for a grant that will help fnance a single vessel retroft with a bundle of proven technologies. The retroft will result in a minimum fuel savings of 10 to 15 percent. Up to $200,000 will be granted by CWR to fund the instal- lation of continuous monitoring equipment. CWR will also commission independent, third-party analysis of the collect- ed data, which will verify the benefts of the multitechnology retroft and provide a proof of concept for the entire industry. Parker Kittiwake-Procal Names Wellhead Ltd. Systems Integrator Parker Kittiwake-Procal recently announced the appoint- ment of Score Subsea and Wellhead Ltd. as an offcial sys- tems integrator. The contract allows Procal to expand upon its existing international distribution and service capability, un- derpinning both companies' commitment to support global emissions reduction and improve air quality both at sea and on land. Procal's CEMS analyzer can be applied to the most oner- ous and demanding applications, and effectively fulfll the requirements of both operators and environmental regulators. international
