While the new Guidance Note focuses on RBI of hull structures, the scope of the service offered also extends to topside static equipment for fxed and foating installations and facilities, both on and offshore. Videotel Supports Concentrated Inspection Campaign Videotel, a company of KVH Industries, Inc., has backed the Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on crew famil- iarization for enclosed space entry recently launched by the maritime authorities of Tokyo and Paris. The training program "Entry into Enclosed Spaces" ex- plains all relevant regulations and guidelines; raises aware- ness of the hazards of enclosed spaces entry; explains en- closed space entry procedures and the equipment required for safe entry into enclosed spaces; and provides details about emergency procedures, rescue techniques, and the use of a self-contained breathing apparatus. ¡VAMOS! Project Progresses SMD has completed its frst deliverable for the ¡VAMOS! (Viable Alternative Mine Operating System) project, fnaliz- ing the system architecture on schedule. ¡VAMOS! is a 42-month research and development proj- ect, launched in March this year as part of the EU's Horizon 2020 program. The project will help to provide an opportu- nity to tap into the wealth of unexploited European mineral resources. First Yemen Aid Ship Under ESCGS Protection The frst UN aid ship to arrive in war-torn Yemen for more than four months was under the armed protection of ESC Global Security while it unloaded more than 7,000 t of food and medicine in Aden. The UN food agency described the arrival as a "major breakthrough" since the internal war in Yemen began in March.
