Gilliam comes with more than 25 years of ex- perience in market research, marketing, branding and sales, including 14 years managing her own company. Ocean Sonics Ltd. (Great Village, Can- ada) has welcomed Pierre Almeida to the team. Almeida has a background in computer science and international business, and has eight years of sales experience. He plans to help expand company sales of the icListen Smart Hy- drophones into its third year. The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute's newest facul- ty member, Dr. Guojun Wang, assistant research professor, will start in March. Wang has most recently been a postdoc- toral scholar at the College of Pharmacy, University of Ken- tucky, Lexington. His research focuses on natural product biosynthesis and drug discovery, genome mining, enzyme function and engineering, and medical chemistry. Alan R. Curtis has been promoted to senior vice president, operations support at Oceaneering International Inc. (Hous- ton, Texas). Curtis will be responsible for human resources, information technology, supply chain management, internal audit and facilities. He joined Oceaneering in 1995 as a fnancial controller, and most recently served as vice presi- dent and controller of subsea products. James Smith has been appointed general manager for the subsea division of RRC Controls Services (Aberdeen, Scot- land). Previously, Smith has spent time in Malaysia, Brazil and Norway, where he was responsible for several expan- sion projects. He will play an integral part in the growth strategy of RRC. Bollinger Shipyards (Lockport, Louisiana) announced that Ben Bordelon will assume the duties of chairman, president and chief executive offcer of the company. Bordelon has served in many capacities during his career at Bollinger and has been a member of the board of directors since 2002. BIRNS Inc. (Oxnard, California) has expanded its sales and marketing team with the addition of Laura Powell as sales associate and Penny Nuntavong as sales and marketing as- sociate. Powell brings more than 25 years of sales expertise to her new role, and Nuntavong will be supporting sales efforts for the company's global dealer network. Nick Burchill is the new vice president of sales and mar- keting for MetOcean Data Systems (Dartmouth, Canada). Burchill will lead MetOcean's global sales initiatives and is responsible for the management of the sales team, including the marketing of MetOcean's product portfolio. He brings more than 20 years of sales and management experience, as well as 14 years of experience with the Canadian Navy. OceanWorks International Inc. (Houston, Texas) announced the appointment of Mike Glidewell to the position of se- nior account manager for the sales and marketing division. Glidewell will identify, develop and capture opportunities to expand the customer base in the subsea oil and gas and other sectors. Mark Lougheed has been appointed to Willard Marine's (Virginia Beach, Virginia) engineering team. Lougheed was most recently at Coast Dynamics Group as an engineering project leader developing technology for SHOXS seats. He was also the senior research and development engineer at Zodiac Hurricane Technologies. Bibby Ship Management (Liverpool, England) has recruited a new regional managing director for the U.K. and Isle of Man, Andrew Rodden, who brings with him commercial and technical knowledge and experience. Rodden will manage the crew and technical service delivery across the U.K. and Isle of Man. iSURVEY (Oslo, Norway) has appointed Iain Milroy as busi- ness development manager at the company's Aberdeen, Scotland, offce. As part of this newly created role, Milroy will focus on the development of the business in the U.K., as well as northwest Europe, the Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea, West Africa and other operational areas active in oil and gas exploration and production. n people
