Subsea UK Meets With Trade Envoy to Mexico Subsea U.K. (Aberdeen, Scotland) is helping British sub- sea businesses capitalize on opportunities in the Mexican oil and gas market. At a briefng for the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Mex- ico Baroness Bonham Carter held at the Aberdeen Harbour Marine Operations Centre, Neil Gordon, Subsea's chief ex- ecutive, highlighted the specialist expertise and technical capabilities developed by subsea companies in the North Sea region and the similarities to Mexico's own harsh deep- water conditions. Sonardyne Achieves OHSAS 18001 Accreditation Sonardyne International Ltd. (Yateley, England) an- nounced that its U.K. sites in Yateley; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Plymouth, England, have been awarded the Occupa- tion Health and Safety Assessment Specifcation (OHSAS) 18001 Safety Management System Standard accreditation, after successful audits of all three sites. This latest achieve- ment demonstrates Sonardyne's commitment to health and safety in the workplace on a global scale. OHSAS sets the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management for best practice in the work- place. Industry Forum Designed to Promote Change A forum aimed at producing a practical response to mari- time casualty management was recently launched in Singa- pore. LOC Group (London, England) is set to host the forum during the upcoming Singapore Maritime Week in April. The two-day meeting is intended for global industry lead- ers from all parties involved in marine casualties. It will take place from April 23 to 24, 2015 at Singapore's Fullerton Ho- tel. MMT Performs Cable Crossings Survey As part of the preparations for a cable laying campaign, MMT (Västra Frölunda, Sweden) has completed a cable crossings survey for Kraftnät Åland (Mariehamn, Finland). The planned submarine cable is 152 kilometers long and will be laid from Naantali to Juvik, Finland. The survey was planned based on a desktop survey done by MMT during the summer and fall of 2014. All available information for the area was combined in a database. A se- lection of priority blocks was made based on that informa- tion and served as the basis for the survey campaign. Global Expansion Drives ClassNK Growth Registration totals for 2014 have been announced for ClassNK (Tokyo, Japan). Over the course of the year, 833 new vessels joined its register, marking the fourth year that the classifcation society registered more than 20 million in new tonnage. Led by continued strength in the newbuild markets, ClassNK registered a total of 548 newbuilds.
