As "big oil" is retreating from the North Sea, more room is becoming available for smaller, indepen- dent E&P; companies. The ses- sion will discuss what is being spent this year on drilling, how new players expect to deliver value and what governments of countries bordering the North Sea do to establish an attractive E&P; climate. Relevant to both the North Sea and other offshore pro- ducing regions are the sessions on offshore maintenance services and on well plugging and abandonment. Many offshore platforms in use today are exceeding their intend- ed lifespan. For the frst time, the Offshore Energy confer- T he seventh Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference will take place October 28 and 29 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The city will again become the place to be for the internation- al offshore community. With visitors from more than 60 dif- ferent countries and demon- strable steady growth since its foundation in 2008, Offshore Energy is a must-attend event for all professionals in the international offshore sector. With the easily accessible and attractive city of Amster- dam as the setting, Offshore Energy expects to attract more than 10,000 visitors from around the world. More than 500 supply chain companies will showcase their prod- ucts and services. Companies such as Fugro (Leidschen- dam, Netherlands), Palfnger Marine (Köstendorf, Austria), Bluewater Energy Services (Hoofddorp, Netherlands), Technip-EPG (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Van Oord (Rotterdam), Keppel Verolme (Rotterdam), Boskalis (Pa- pendrecht, Netherlands), Ulstein (Ulsteinvik, Nor- way), Royal IHC (Sliedrecht, Netherlands) and Heerema (Leiden, Netherlands) have already booked their stand. More than 80 percent of the exhibition space has already been sold. The Future is in the Water The conference theme for this year is "The Future is in the Water," hinting at the in- creasing shift to offshore as the locus of exploration and Offshore Energy ST Conference Preview Attendees look at a ship model on the exhibition foor last year.
